3SquaresVT Benefits Available for People who are Unhoused

People who are unhoused can still get 3SquaresVT, a federal program that gives people grocery benefits every month to be used at hundreds of grocery and convenience stores, and more.

If you are 65+ or receive SSI benefits, you can get your 3SquaresVT benefits by direct deposit as cash into your personal bank account or as a paper check mailed to you.

You can call 2-1-1 to connect with a community partner who can help you with 3SquaresVT benefits and any necessary updates. Ask for your local Council on Aging (for adults 60+) or Community Action Agency.

3SquaresVT  is here to provide support to everyone in our community who is eligible, including those who are experiencing homelessness. You do not need a permanent address to get 3SquaresVT.

Having a reliable mailing address is important for receiving information about your 3SquaresVT benefits. If you’re experiencing homelessness, there are a number of ways to provide a mailing address, including:

  • General Delivery: You can have mail sent to a local post office for pickup.

  • P.O. Box: Consider renting a P.O. Box for secure mail delivery.

  • Trusted Friends or Family: You can use the address of someone you trust for important correspondence.

  • Shelters: Many shelters offer mail services, helping you stay connected.

If you’re already enrolled in 3SquaresVT and need to update where you receive mail, you can:

  • Call ESD (wait times are long): 1-800-479-615.

    • For language interpretation services, call 1-855-247-3092.

  • Go to an ESD district office local to you

  • Have a service provider report it for you, by calling 2-1-1 and asking for 3SquaresVT help

Upload information about your new address through the Document Uploader if you have an online account.
